SOCIAL MEDIA OPTIMIZATION (SMO)

Social Media Optimization is the use of a volume of social media sites or outlets and communities to yield prominence and publicity, thus increasing the awareness of a brand, product or event. It is similar to SEO in its goal which is to generate traffic and cognizance for a website. In broader sense, social media optimization (SMO) means modifying a website and its content in terms of sharing across network sites or social media sites.

There are different types of social media sites such as RSS feeds, social news and bookmarking, also social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, video and blogging sites. Anything that enable a person to socially interact with others online is described as social media. Some of those are the aforementioned sites that are widely known and used by everyone.

With this new way of providing the needs of the clients, which is through SMO, we should acknowledge the variety of strategies to be employed when using it. Here are some of the beneficial strategies we should consider: increasing link-ability, getting communities connected, making tags and bookmarks, and helping your content travel.
In general sense, SMO is a better and innovative way t increase traffic to your site. It also leads SEO to improve. SMO is not just about building a greater and huge social media for your product or services. The social networks of others can be advantaged to great effect whether or not the organization has strong social media presence.
